Boyce Avenue: 15 Facts You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

Previously, we brought you part one of our 15 interesting facts about Boyce Avenue. Now, here are eight more facts about the band of brothers (Alejandro, Fabian and Daniel Manzano) turned internet sensation, who have been taking the world by storm with their cover songs and original tunes.

Number Eight: They were Voice Coaches on The X Factor. During the second season of the show, Boyce Avenue were asked by Simon Cowell himself to join the show and work with the contestants. In an interview, the band said that many of the contestants knew who they were already, so it was a natural fit.

Number Seven: The Band Took an X Factor Song for Themselves. When Alejandro wrote “Scars,” it was initially written for one of the artists they were mentoring on the show. However, the band thought the song fit their vibe perfectly and recorded it for themselves. “Scars” can now be heard on Boyce Avenue’s 2014 EP, No Limits.

Number Six: They Have Their Own App. In January 2016, the band launched their own application for iPhone and Android.

Number Five: The Band Have a Partnership with Vessel. When paid video subscription service Vessel launched in early 2015, Boyce Avenue was the first independent music artist to partner with the company. This partnership meant the band would have exclusive new content premiere right as the service launched.

Number Four: They Got to Open for One of Their Musical Heroes. In 2010, Boyce Avenue had the opportunity to open for the Goo Goo Dolls and Switchfoot. While this would be quite a feat for any up-and-coming band, this one was special for one member of the band in particular. Alejandro has been quoted as saying that the Goo Goo Dolls are one of his biggest influences.

Number Three: They Have More YouTube Subscribers Than Lady Gaga. With nearly eight million subscribers on their YouTube channel, Boyce Avenue have the highest subscriber count of any independent musician on the site. Compared to popular major label artists, their subscriber count puts them slightly behind Beyoncé and about a million subscribers ahead of Lady Gaga.

Number Two: Their Most Popular Cover on YouTube is a Justin Timberlake Song. Boyce Avenue’s cover of Timberlake’s “Mirrors” has almost 93 million views, making it far and away the band’s most popular cover and most popular song. It doesn’t hurt that the cover also features Fifth Harmony, who they first worked with during The X Factor.

Number One: The Band Doesn’t Get Money from Their YouTube Channel. Many content creators on YouTube monetize their accounts, meaning that they get money from the site putting ads on their videos. Not Boyce Avenue. They earn their money the hard way: by selling merchandise and touring. With YouTube, they are content just being able to share their music with the world.
