Breaking Benjamin On Course For First Number One

Breaking Benjamin‘s Dark Before Dawn is on pace to sell around 140,000 copies this week, which should be enough for the Number 1 spot on the Billboard 200. This will be the band’s first Number 1 on the US Albums chart. Dark Before Dawn features the singles “Failure,” “Angels Fall,” and “Defeated.” The latest single, “Defeated,” is sitting at the Number 23 position on the US Hot Rock songs chart. Breaking Benjamin’s other projects include Saturate, We Are Not Alone, Phobia, and Dear Agony.

The band’s sophomore effort, We Are Not Alone, was dropped in 2004. It sold over 40,000 copies in its debut week, and it peaked at Number 20 on the Billboard 200. Three singles were released from the album including “So Cold,” “Sooner or Later,” and “Rain (Remix).” The lead single “So Cold” reached Number 2 on the US Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks, Number 3 on the US Modern Rock Tracks, and Number 76 on the Billboard Hot 100. We Are Not Alone was certified platinum in the US, after selling over one million copies.

Phobia, the follow-up project to We Are Not Alone, proved to be commercially successful. The album topped the US Rock Albums and US Digital Albums chart. It also went to Number 2 on the Billboard 200, and impacted the charts in New Zealand as well. Led by the singles “The Diary of Jane,” “Breath,” and “Until the End,” Phobia reached platinum certification too. “Breath” spent seven weeks atop the US Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and it also peaked at Number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100.
