Busta Rhymes has been around the block a few times. The hip hop recording artist may be 43 years old, but he’s still going strong. Despite all the time Busta Rhymes has spent in the spotlight, there are still some things that many people don’t know about him. Number Fifteen: He Once Held a Guinness World Record. In 2009, Busta held the Guinness world record for being able to rap the most syllables in a single second. It’s clear that Busta Rhymes is a talented rapper, but this sealed the deal. However, he no longer holds the record.
Number Fourteen: He Got His Name From a Football Player. At the time when Busta Rhymes was interesting the industry, everybody had “Ski” in their name. To follow suit, Busta’s first rap name was Chilly-O-Ski. However, he got his permanent name from the former football player named George “Buster” Rhymes. Chuck D of Public Enemy was the one who rechristened him.
Number Thirteen: He Has More Than 300 Credits to His Name. Busta is one of the most prolific rappers of his time, and he has even been featured on over 300 songs. Odds are when you listen to a remix of a rap song, Busta is involved.
Number Twelve: Only One of His Albums Debuted at Number One. You might think that the majority of Busta’s albums debuted at the tippy top, but in reality, only one of his albums debuted at number one. That album is 2006’s The Big Bang.
Number Eleven: He Was Kicked Out of a Group for Not Giving a Ride. When Busta entered the industry, he was part of a group called Leaders of the New School. However, he was eventually kicked out for not giving fellow members Dinco D and Charlie Brown a ride, though he eventually rejoined with different stipulations.
Number Ten: He Designed Clothes. In the late 1990s, Busta designed a line of clothing called Bushi. However, the line did not last long since profits were slow in growing, and he got bored of the creative venture.
Number Nine: He Grew His Dreads Because of a Record Deal. Though many people believe Busta grew dreads because of his Jamaican heritage, in reality, he grew them when he got a record deal. However, when he switched over to Aftermath, he cut his hair off.
