Calvin Harris Signs Another Vegas Residency Deal

Calvin Harris just signed a three-year partnership with the Hakkasan Group. Harris will hold residencies at Hakkasan Nightclub, Wet Republic at MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, and Omnia Nightclub. The Omnia will be opening at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas in the spring. The DJ will also act as a music consultant for the Hakkasan brand. The DJ’s consulting will help the company’s expansion into hotel space. Neil Moffitt, CEO of Hakkasan Group, spoke about the company’s new deal with Harris, “We are excited to continue our partnership with Calvin Harris as he extends his exclusive residencies with Hakkasan Group.” Moffitt continued, “He is truly a sensational artist and we look forward to what he will bring to our most acclaimed venues over the next three years.”

Harris also released a statement in regards to his residency, “Its venues are some of the best in the world for dance music and the opportunity to be part of the wider group as it develops into other markets and sectors is a really exciting prospect for me as an artist.” Harris added, “We have some great ideas up our sleeves.”

Calvin Harris is one the most recognized names in electro house music. His third studio album, 18 Months, sold over fifty- thousand copies in its first week. The album produced nine Top Ten singles on the UK Singles Chart including “We Found Love” featuring Rihanna, “Feels So Close,” “I Need Your Love,” and “Thinking About You.” Harris’ song “Sweet Nothing” featuring Florence Welch, was also one of the records from 18 Months to reach the Top 10 in 2012. “Sweet Nothing” was nominated for a Grammy Award last year, and the album 18 Months was also nominated. The song has just reached double-platinum status, selling more than two million copies worldwide.

Apparently, Harris’ double platinum plaque was shipped to Deadmau5 by mistake. Deadmau5 sent the DJ a message on social media, “@CalvinHarris congrats for the dbl [double] platinum album!!! Sucks that it got shipped to my house, lol!” Deadmau5 also tweeted a photo of Harris’ plaque. Calvin Harris was the highest-paid DJ of 2013 and 2014, according to Forbes magazine.
