Just before 10:00pm yesterday night, the Firefly Music Festival was forced to end early because of severe weather. Due to the unexpected evacuation, several performances were either cut short or cancelled. Sublime With Rome, Kid Cudi, and The Chainsmokers were all onstage when the evacuation announcement was made. While Steve Aiko, Lettuce, Rustie, Matoma, and Kings of Leon never got the chance to perform on Saturday night. Today, a few artists announced they were rescheduling their canceled set. Steve Aiko took the stage earlier today- performing on the Backyard Stage. The Chainsmokers will perform a one-hour set on the Pavilion Stage from 11:00pm to 12:00amtonight. Meanwhile, Kid Cudi was not able to reschedule his gig, but fans were able to watch him perform five songs onstage- before his show was canceled. Kings of Leon were also unable to reschedule their canceled gig at Firefly.
One of the biggest highlights at Firefly this year is its newly formed Treehouse Stage. The stage features artists playing live sessions at the festival. For those people who were willing to wait in line (in the scorching hot sun) in order to gain entrance into Treehouse, it proved to be worth the attendees’ wait.On Saturday, the Dirty Heads performed a session on the Treehouse Stage. The cosy atmosphere allows fans to get up close and personal with the performers. The tall trees surrounding the Treehouse Stage provides attendees with a cool breeze, and some much needed shade. Dirty Heads played acoustic versions of their most-recognized singles including “My Sweet Summer,” which is from their latest project Sound of Change. Dirty Heads also performed later that night on the Backyard Stage, which brought in more than 20,000 people.
Even though Firefly ended earlier yesterday, the four-day festival has had a lot of great moments.
