Number Eight: Charlie Puth Recorded His First Album at 12 Years Old
In 2003, when he was in sixth grade, Puth recorded and produced an album of Christmas songs. All the money he made from the sale of the album went to his church.
Number Seven: He Took His Mom to the Grammys
Charlie Puth was nominated for three Grammy Awards this year and his date to the ceremony was none other than his mom. During an interview on the red carpet, he said that he had made a promise to his mom years ago to bring her if he was ever nominated.
Number Six: He Used to Code Software
In his free time, he used to write programs for the computer, as well as code websites. This is also how he got into using ProTools and started producing music.
Number Five: He is a Big Fan of James Taylor
Puth says that Taylor is his favorite musician and the reason he writes music. He has said that he has seen the folk artist seven times and knows all his music. One day he hopes to collaborate with him.
Number Four: He is Also a Producer
Charlie Puth wasn’t necessarily looking to be in the limelight when he started in music. When he first got to Hollywood, he wanted to write and produce songs for others. In 2014 to 2015, he worked on songs for Pitbull, Jason Derulo, Bonnie McKee, Trey Songz and CeeLo Green.
Number Three: He Hopes to Find the Next Unsigned YouTube Star
Puth has said that one of his goals in the music business is to discover and collaborate with the next unsigned YouTube musician. He says that it is something that he would have wanted someone else to do for him.
Number Two: He Tried to Get into Vin Diesel’s Head When Writing ‘See You Again’
When asked to write a song for Furious 7 remembering Paul Walker’s legacy, Puth has said that he tried to think of what Vin Diesel might have said to Walker in a final message. Since he never knew Walker, he used his friend’s death as inspiration for most of the song.
Number One: He Wrote and Recorded His Debut Album in His Bedroom
