Chris Paul has long been one of the premier point guards in the NBA. He’s been a perennial all star ever since joining the league, and though he has yet to be on a championship squad, no one doubts his talent and poise. Below is the first part of the list of you things you probably didn’t know about the Los Angeles Clippers point guard.
Number Fifteen: Chris Paul’s Grandfather Was Murdered When Chris Was in High School
To honor his grandfather, Chris Paul intentionally scored exactly 61 points in his next game. This was the exact number of years his grandfather lived before his life was taken.
Number Fourteen: He and His Family Appeared on Family Feud
If you thought that this would have happened back before he was an NBA star, you’d be wrong. This was in 2011, and the world definitely knew Chris Paul by then. It must have been pretty important to him.
Number Thirteen: He Lives in Avril Lavigne’s Old House
And before Avril owned it, it belonged to Travis Barker, drummer of Blink-182. Chris Paul purchased it for $8.5 million.
Number Twelve: He Shared a Personal Chef With Reggie Bush
The two were friends while Chris played in New Orleans, and they must have had a pretty good understanding of each other. That’s because the same chef cooked for both of them during the same time.
Number Eleven: He’s the Author of a Children’s Book
It’s called Long Shot: Never Too Small to Dream Big. It’s probably pretty self-explanatory, but yes, it’s about someone who believes he’s too short to play professional basketball. It probably has a happy ending.
Number Ten: He Was High School Student President – For Three Years
Chris Paul really was a go-getter. In addition to being a star basketball player and student body president, he also had a 3.5 GPA and played for the football team.
Number Nine: He Was Only 5’1” When He Started High School
Which means he must have grown almost a full foot before graduating. That children’s book makes even more sense now. That’s the end of part one of our list, but check back for part two soon!
