On Thursday, former The Voice coach Christina Aguilera made a statement about the budding relationship between Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, both of whom are currently coaches on the show. Aguilera was replaced by Stefani as a coach and judge on the current season of The Voice.
According to Us Weekly, Aguilera said “I kept telling [Stefani and Shelton] to stay strong and have fun! Divorce and life is hard enough! If you find someone who makes you happy, you gotta go for it. So they deserve it and they deserve to be happy!” Clearly, Christina supports the romance that naturally evolved between the two judges and coaches.
Stefani and Shelton both underwent divorces earlier this year. Shelton split from his wife Miranda Lambert in July after four years of marriage, and Stefani divorced hubby Gavin Rossdale in August after nearly 13 years of marriage. Just months after the two newly single coaches’ divorces, rumors began to spread that they were dating, and now it has been all but confirmed.
Though Shelton and Stefani are both coaches and judges on The Voice for the current season, Aguilera will reportedly return as a coach for the next season of the hit show. That means the coaches for next season will tentatively be Aguilera, Shelton, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine. Aguilera has been involved with seasons one, two, three, five and eight of The Voice.
Stefani and Shelton have been seen out together several times, although Stefani has been very hush-hush about the rumors, despite both her and Shelton’s reps confirming the two were dating. She told a San Diego radio station that “People just can say whatever they want and then they can just believe it.” Was that a quiet admission, or a blanketed denial? It may be unclear, but clearly many people, including Aguilera, are excited by the possibility of the two judges dating.
