Coldplay: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

Coldplay might be a polarizing party conversation topic, but nobody can deny the fact that they have achieved phenomenal success over the years. However, despite the fact that Coldplay have spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. Number Fifteen: They Dropped Some Serious Cash on Wristbands. For their 2001 Mylo Xyloto tour, Coldplay reportedly spent $4.22 million just on wristbands. The wristbands were meant for audience members to wear, and they would change color in time with the music.

Number Fourteen: Chris Martin Learned How to Sing “The Scientist” Backward. For the music video of “The Scientist,” Martin had to learn how to sing the song backward. He reportedly learned the phonetic movements so he would appear to be singing the words correctly.

Number Thirteen: They Have No Interest in Future Duets. Coldplay collaborated with Rihanna for “Princess of China,” and the band says that they have no interest in future collaborations.

Number Twelve: Martin Once Took Public Transportation to His Own Show. Martin reportedly traveled to a show Coldplay was performing at The O2 via public transportation. There were many Coldplay fans surrounding him; however, none of them recognized him.

Number Eleven: They Were Compared to Nazis. On the hit television show Peep Show, Coldplay are compared to Nazis. The title of the episode is “Sectioning.”

Number Ten: They Gave Ellen DeGeneres a Nice Gift. Martin and Jonny Buckland were on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2011, and on the show, they decided to gift Ellen the head of the elephant suit that can be seen in the video for “Paradise.” How…sweet?
