It turns out they exaggerate certain things in episodes of the show. For instance, if you hypnotize someone who testifies as a witness, you are not allowed to put them on the stand.

Number Six: Kirsten Vangsness is a Thespian

Garcia’s plays a role that involves her character acting in community theater. It turns it this has some basis in the real life, because the actress is a real-life thespian.

Number Five: Criminal Minds’ Joe Mantegna is Friends with a Beatle

He’s a big fan of the fab four. If you paid attention closely during some episodes, you might have noticed that his character, Rossi, has a picture of himself with Ringo Starr on his desk.

Number Four: Haley Hotchner’s Wig Was Not For Disguise Purposes

The character goes into protective custody and begins donning a dark wig. This was not for her protection, but rather because she had changed her hair for her role in another show, Californication.

Number Three: A.J. Cook’s Son Acts in the Show

JJ’s son is played by A.J. Cook’s actual son, Mekhai Andersen. Instead of casting someone to play the character’s son, they use his real one.

Number Two: One of the Directors Made a Documentary

In addition to directing two episodes of Criminal Minds, he also made a documentary. The film is titled Matthew Gray Gubler: The Unauthorized Documentary, which also features backstage footage of the Criminal Minds cast and crew.
