Dave Grohl Joins Paul McCartney Onstage in UK

Paul McCartney performed two shows in London yesterday, and the Beatles legend surprised the audience by having Dave Grohl join him onstage. The Foo Fighters frontman and McCartney dug into the Beatles archives and performed “Please Please Me” and “I Saw Her Standing There.” The legendary moment was captured by fans at the show, and the footage made its rounds on social media.

McCartney continues to make his case that he can still rock out with today’s biggest stars. Earlier this year, Lady Gaga revealed she was in the recording studio with McCartney for one of “his many secret projects.” McCartney also contributed to The Hollywood Vampires debut album, which is expected to be released some time this year. The rock supergroup consisting of Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp, and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, are planning to put out a project dedicated to all the friends they lost to drugs and alcohol.

Perry told Rolling Stone magazine how amazed he was by McCartney’s effortless guitar playing on the song “Come and Get It,” which the Beatles legend wrote and produced for Badfinger in 1969. “He didn’t have any cheat sheets. It was like he had been playing it his whole life. Me and Alice and Johhny were standing there and looking at each other and I tell you, if there’s any ego-lever in a room, it’s Paul. It’s doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done. If Paul’s in the room, he’s there,” Perry stated.

Perhaps McCartney’s biggest collaboration of the year was the “FourFiveSeconds” single with Kanye West and Rihanna. The single peaked at Number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, and it also impacted seven charts in the US including the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (Number 1), Top Twitter Tracks (Number 3), Mainstream Top 40 (Number 6), Rhythmic (Number 6), Dance/Mix Show Airplay (Number 8), Adult Top 40 (Number 12), and Adult Contemporary (Number 21). “FourFiveSeconds” also went to the top of the charts in Ireland, Israel, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, and Australia. The single has been certified platinum in the US, after selling more than one million digital copies.
