You might know Debbie Harry better as Blondie, but how much do you really know about her? The 70-year-old is one of the most well-respected musicians in the industry and was one of the greatest performers of the 1980s. However, despite the fact that Harry has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. Number Fifteen: Before She Was Blondie, She Was The Angel and the Snake. Blondie almost ended up calling themselves The Angel and the Snake. However, they changed their name to Blondie in 1975 after Harry’s nickname.
Number Fourteen: She Has Regular Psychic Episodes. Harry has claimed that he has psychic episodes on a regular basis. Her first psychic event occurred when she was just three years old. The even happened after her parents told her she was adopted, and she says she began hearing voices in the fireplace.
Number Thirteen: Her Nickname Was Moon. Harry says that she earned the nickname “Moon” after the shape of her face. She said that kids made fun of her round face in school, teasing her for not having a more oval face.
Number Twelve: She Made a Pillow Case Famous. The infamous zebra dress that Harry donned in an early poster was originally a pillow case. And not just any pillow case, either – a pillow case she found in the garbage!
Number Eleven: She Almost Lost Her Bandmates in 1978. Blondie was slated to play a show in Australia on Christmas day in 1978 when her bandmates decided to go on a boat ride. However, the boat got stuck and started to sink, and Harry had to send someone out to get them so they could perform.
Number Ten: She Realized Her Sexuality at a Very Young Age. Harry has said that she first became aware of her own sexuality when she was just 10 or 11 years old.
Number Nine: One of Her Hit Singles Was Written by the Nerves. The hit single “Hanging on the Telephone” performed by Blondie was actually written by the California pop band The Nerves. The song was the first of Blondie’s to achieve any mainstream success.
