Number Eight: She Almost Recorded a Bond Theme Song. Blondie was supposed to record the theme song to For Your Eyes Only, which was the Bond film in 1981. However, the producers rejected their rendition and decided on one by Sheena Easton instead.

Number Seven: She Was a Playboy Bunny. It’s true! Harry was a Playboy bunny before she was part of Blondie. She worked for Playboy for nine months.

Number Six: She Was the Oldest Female Singer to Get a Number One Hit. With her hit song “Maria,” released in 1999, Harry became the oldest female singer to achieve a number one single in the U.K. She was 53 years old at the time.

Number Five: “Call Me” Was Meant for Stevie Nicks. “Call Me” was written by Giorgio Moroder, who had originally intended the song for Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks. However, he ended up finishing the song with Blondie, and it eventually became a number one hit.

Number Four: Her Bassist Left to Join Another Band. Blondie’s original bassist, Fred Smith, ended up leaving Blondie to go work with the band Television. One rumor says that the decision to leave was Patti Smith’s idea.

Number Three: She Began Singing in Church Choir. Though Harry is widely regarded as one of the biggest sex symbols of the 1980s, she actually got her start in singing as part of a church choir.

Number Two: She Was a Cheerleader in High School. Harry has admitted that she was a cheerleader in high school, although she says she was not very good, and she even recalled that being a cheerleader made her anxious.
