Destiny’s Child: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about Destiny’s Child, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the iconic girl group that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: They Got a Hollywood Star After They Disbanded. The group received the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2,035th star, and they received it one year after disbanding, in 2006.

Number Seven: They Teamed Up With McDonald’s. The group teamed up with McDonald’s for their 2005 world tour. The group added “Lovin’ it” to the name of their tour, and the group also did several TV promotions for the giant fast food chain.

Number Six: Jay Z Helped Them Out. You probably know that Bey and Jay are totes together, but did you know that he helped write one of Destiny Child’s hit songs? Jay Z helped write “Lose My Breath,” although at the time, he and Beyonce were just friends.

Number Five: Kelly Was the First to Break the News. Kelly Rowland was the first member to announce that Destiny’s Child was breaking up. She announced the news in Barcelona.

Number Four: Kelly and Michelle Went Solo Before Beyonce. It’s true! She may be Queen Bey now, but Kelly and Michelle actually left to go solo before she did. Michelle dropped a solo gospel album, and Kelly released an album in the same year.

Number Three: Beyonce Is Not the Only Member With a Number One Album. Remember LeToya Luckett? Well, her self-titled album actually peaked at number one on the charts in 2006. To this day, she is the only member to earn a platinum plaque – other than Beyonce, of course.

Number Two: They Opened for Das EFX. According to Beyonce, Destiny’s Child actually opened for Das EFX – the rap duo – in Houston.

Number One: Beyonce Gets Free Popeye’s. Beyonce might carefully regulate her diet, but if she ever decides to give up her diet, she has a card that gets her free Popeye’s for life. It’s just a shame that she doesn’t get to use it.
