Following the release of last month’s “Holding On” featuring guest vocals from jazz singer Gregory Porter, British electronic duo Howard and Guy Lawrence, also known as Disclosure, have revealed plans to publish their highly anticipated sophomore studio album. The follow up to 2011’s Grammy Award winning and critically acclaimed Settle, is titled Caracal and will be released early this fall, on September 25th via PMR/Island Records.
The official announcement of the new album was made moments before the duo performed at their very own Wild Life Festival, which took place in Brighton, England this past weekend. Whilst the full track-listing has not yet been revealed, lead single “Holding On” will make the cut, along with an unreleased song called “Jaded”, which will feature vocals from Howard Lawrence himself. Altogether, the standard edition of Caracal will feature eleven tracks, whilst the deluxe version will include four bonus songs, some of which, will be signed by Disclosure.
In a press release, Howard Lawrence explained how the name Caracal came about, describing how it’s an incredible wild cat that he became fascinated with whilst on tour last year. He then went onto further express his admiration for the way that they look, their physical capabilities and their anonymity. Labelling the Caracal as the perfect fit for their Wild Life brand, Lawrence said how the title seemed most natural over the course of the recording period and that it made perfect sense for it to be the lead visual for the new album.
Over the past few weeks, the brothers have been teasing fans with short, cryptic clips along with snippets of the record’s intriguing and befitting cover art which pictures the distinctly looking cat at the festival, but something that they’ve kept quite close to their chests, are the collaborations that will appear on the album. From the short trailer that accompanied the announcement, you can make out silhouettes of Gregory Porter, accompanied by a few others. These have been confirmed to be, Kwabs (who will also release his debut album Love + War this September) and R&B songstress’ Nao and Lion Babe. Lastly, the pair also announced a couple of forthcoming US tour dates. The first will be in Los Angeles, CA at Memorial Sports Area on September 29th, followed by a show at New York’s Madison Square Garden on the 24th of October.
Caracal is now available to pre-order before its September 25th release, of which UK fans who do, will have access to buy tickets to future headlining tour dates. By pre-ordering, fans will also get an instant download of “Holding On”, a pin code of which will be sent via email.
