Dolly Parton is one of the most recognizable country music singers on the planet. Though the 69-year-old may not be as present in the media as she once was, she has still maintained her relevance. Despite her ongoing place under the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know about her. Number Fifteen: She Is Not Into Amusement Parks. Though Parton has her own theme park – Dollywood – she does not ride any of the rides. She suffers from motion sickness and even admitted she used to get sick on the school bus, so intense rollercoasters are definitely not her thing.
Number Fourteen: She Lost a Dolly Parton Look-A-Like Contest. Parton participated in a Dolly Parton look-a-like contest on Halloween, and she said she did not even come close to winning. Even funnier – the contest was for Dolly Parton drag.
Number Thirteen: She Recreated her Childhood Home. Parton was raised with 11 siblings in Tennessee, and her home had neither indoor plumbing nor electricity. She bought her childhood home later in life and spent a lot of money to restore the house to the condition it was in when she was a child.
Number Twelve: She Will Defend Rhinestone to the Death. Though Parton has gotten a lot of flack for her performance in 1984’s Rhinestone, she staunchly defends it and considers it to be some of her best work.
Number Eleven: She Is Miley Cyrus’ Godmother. Well, sort of. Parton has said that she is Cyrus’ honorary godmother since the two have known each other since Cyrus was just a baby. Parton got to know Cyrus through her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.
Number Ten: She Got Death Threats From the KKK. Parton openly supported the LGBT community in the mid-aughts, and this spurred some KKK members to send her death threats. However, that did not stop her from supporting gay rights.
Number Nine: She Started Her Own Library. In an effort to promote literacy, Parton founded Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in 1995. The library is located in Tennessee.
