Presidential candidate Donald Trump has said a lot of things, many of which have been parodied over and over. Some of these things he’s said are so iconic that we decided to make a list about it! What follows is a list of Donald Trump’s 10 most outrageous quotes, presented with minimal context so you can digest them in all their glory. So sit back, relax, and make sure your mouth isn’t full – your jaw might just be on the floor after reading these quotes.
Number Ten: “What can be simpler or more accurately stated? The Mexican government is forcing their most unwanted people into the United States. They are, in many cases, criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc. …Many fabulous people come in from Mexico and our country is better for it. But these people are here legally, and are severely hurt by those coming in legally.”
This quote was part of a statement Trump made detailing his thoughts on the Mexican government. Trump believes that the Mexican government is pushing illegal immigrants into the United States on purpose.
Number Nine: “In the make-believe world you will automatically get paid what you are worth. The real world doesn’t work that way. You get paid what you are worth only when the person you are dealing with has no other choice.”
This quote comes from Trump’s book, Think Big and Kick Ass. The book was published in 2007 originally.
Number Eight: “The final key to the way I promote is bravado. I play to people’s fantasies. People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts.”
Trump wrote this bit in his 1987 book, The Art of the Deal. It was published when Trump was 41 years old.
Number Seven: “I will build a great wall – and nobody builds walls better than me, believe me – and I’ll build them very inexpensively. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border, and I will make Mexico pay for that wall. Mark my words.”
The above promise is one Trump made when he announced his presidential candidacy. The statement has since gone viral and is quote polarizing, to say the least.
Number Six: “Your brother’s administration gave us Barack Obama because it was such a disaster those last three months that Abraham Lincoln couldn’t get elected.”
Here, Trump is speaking to Jeb Bush in regards to George W. Bush’s presidency. Trump said this in the second Republican debate this year.
Number Five: “Rich people are rich because they solve difficult problems. You must learn to thrive on problems.”
This quote is also from Trump’s 2007 book, Think Big and Kick Ass. The book currently has a 4.1/5 rating on Barnes and Noble’s website.
Number Four: “Well, I think that when you get right down to it, we’re a nation that speaks English. I think that, while we’re in this nation, we should be speaking English. Whether people like it or not, that’s how we assimilate.”
This quote was part of a conversation Trump had with ABC’s Tom Llamas. Trump had stated that Jeb Bush should speak English, not Spanish, and Llamas asked Trump to clarify. This is what he said.
Number Three: “Back in 1991 the markets were terrible, and everyone was going out of business. I was in deep, deep trouble. I owed billions of dollars. Sure, I could tell you all I want about how to handle pressure well, but I owed many banks billions of dollars. It was not exactly fun. Believe me, it is not cool to be Donald Trump when you owe billions of dollars.”
Again, Trump wrote this in Think Big and Kick Ass. The book is clearly littered with gems like this – just a little life advice for everyone out there borrowing billions of dollars from the government.
Number Two: “We will have so much winning if I get elected that you may get bored with winning.”
This quote is so outrageous it almost seems unreal. He said this at a rally on Capitol Hill, right after he stated that the United States is always losing.
Number One: “If Obama resigns from office NOW, thereby doing a great service to the country – I will give him free lifetime golf at any one of my courses!”
Finally, Trump unleashed this treasure on Twitter in September of 2014. The tweet has since been retweeted nearly 24,000 times.
