We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Drake, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more interesting facts about this “Hotline Bling” singer below. You might be surprised by what you learn!
Number Eight: He Has a Connection to Rihanna. Drake and Rihanna have been on and off dating since 2009. He has allegedly written several songs about their relationship, including the popular “Take Care.”
Number Seven: He Really Loves His Mom. After his parents divorced when he was five years old, his mother became his rock. This was in no doubt aided by the fact that his father has been sent to jail not once, but twice. He often speaks publicly about how much he loves his mom, and he has dedicated one of his songs, “You & The 6,” to her.
Number Six: He Was Discovered on Myspace. While Drake admittedly earned his credibility through his mentorship with Lil Wayne, Lil Wayne discovered Drake through someone else. Drake was discovered when Jas Prince, who is the son of James Prince, sent Lil Wayne his Myspace page.
Number Five: One Producer Works on All of His Songs. Noah “40” Shebib either co-produces or produces every single one of Drake’s songs. He also co-founded his OVO label with Drake. Shebib is no stranger to the spotlight, either; he was part of several film projects growing up, including The Virgin Suicides.
Number Four: He Never Actually Dated Nicki Minaj. Though Drake definitely loves Nicki, Nicki does not have that same kind of love for Drake. The two are obviously friends, but she has never had any interest in being romantic with him.
Number Three: He Likes the NBA. Drake supports his local Toronto Raptors and can often be seen at games. He is actually the global brand ambassador for the Raptors! He has also been seen sitting courtside at NBA games in New York and Miami.
Number Two: He Named His Home. Drake’s home in Los Angeles is actually called “YOLO Estate.” Though you might laugh at the name, the home itself is beautiful and is really nothing to laugh at.
Number One: He Doesn’t Write His Raps Down. Rather than writing his raps down as he thinks of them, Drake prefers to type them out. This may be part of a promotional event, but he mentions his Blackberry in the lyrics to “Say What’s Real.”
