Drake Drops Surprise New Full-Length Album

Drake “pulled a Beyoncé” and released a surprise full-length project entitled If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late. The 17-song album features guest appearances from Lil Wayne, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Travi$ Scott. There have been speculations circulating for a few months that the Toronto rapper was going to drop a mixtape some time soon, but no one expected Drake was going release the project unexpectedly.

When the rapper premiered his 14-minute short filmJungle, the anticipation for a new Drake project intensified. After the rapper released Jungle online, Elliott Wilson of Rap Radar confirmed what a lot of fans were already speculating. “Snack on the short film. I hear the new Drake tunes drop today. Stay tuned,” Wilson tweeted. Let the pandemonium begin…If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late is available on iTunes now. Drake’s Views From the 6 is expected to be the rapper’s next studio album, it is supposed to be released some time this year.

Chance The Rapper just revealed he is dropping his upcoming album Surf without a release date.”The album is very much so a Beyoncé kind of thing. I can’t say the date of the project. But I can say that it is super dope,” Chance told Interview magazine. The Surf album is a collective project with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment. Besides rapping, Chance is hoping to pursue a career in acting, too. The Chicago native said that he auditioned for the role of Dr. Dre in the N.W.A. Straight Outta Compton biopic, but he didn’t get the role. “I read for Dre. But it wasn’t in God’s plan,” Chance said to Interview magazine. The role of Dr. Dre will be played by Corey Hawkins (Non-StopIron Man 3).

A few weeks ago, singer Bjork also surprised her fans with an unexpected release of her Vulnicura album. The project was dropped two months before it was supposed to be put out. The album reached Number 20 on the Billboard 200 charts, and Number 5 on the US Alternative Albums chart. Vulnicura was well-received by music critics, and some called the project her best work to date. It seems the surprise album releases have become less of a trend, and more of a norm in the music business.
