Number Eighteen: It Wasn’t Always Dunkin Donuts. In fact, the original name for the chain was Open Kettle. They changed their name to Dunkin Donuts in 1950.

Number Seventeen: You Could Get Coffee on a Dime When They First Opened. When DD first opened, a cup of hot coffee cost just 10 cents.

Number Sixteen: Munchkins Made Their Debut in 1972. While DD debuted their tiny donut holes, called Munchkins, in 1972, they didn’t begin selling bagels until 1996.

Number Fifteen: The Very First Dunkin Donuts Is Still in Operation. The world’s first DD is located in Quincy, Massachusetts, and it’s still running! It has even been renovated to look exactly as it did in the ’50s.

Number Fourteen: You Can Go Your Entire Life Without Ordering the Same Thing. According to DD, there are more than 15,000 different combinations of coffee customers can order. That’s a lifetime and a half of different coffee options!

Number Thirteen: They Sell 30 Cups of Coffee Every Single Second. That’s 1,800 cups of coffee in a single minute, and 1.7 billion cups of coffee every year!

Number Twelve: Every Pound of DD Coffee Requires 2,000 Coffee Beans. Consider that the next time you think about throwing away those few errant beans that got away from you when you make coffee in the morning.

Number Eleven: They Have Coffee Experts Who Taste 200 Cups Every Single Day. Dunkin Donuts employs what they call coffee tasting experts to make sure every cup of their coffee is high quality. These experts apparently taste up to 200 cups of coffee in a single day.

Number Ten: Their Executive Chef has Been Nominated for Three James Beards Awards. You might not believe it, but it’s true!
