Although he has expressed interest in making a cameo appearance on HBO’s Game of Thrones, Ed Sheeran remains first and foremost a musician. As such, the soulful pop musician has announced the release of yet another single from his massively successful X album. In a tweet released this morning, Sheeran announced that his fifth single from the album would be “Photograph.”
“My next single from multiply is ‘Photograph.’ Wait ’til you see the video, it’s a special one. Very excited,” Sheeran told fans on his social media accounts. “Photograph” was written by Sheeran with assistance from Snow Patrol’s Johnny McDaid and production from Jeff Bkasker and Emile Haynie. The song is a touching love ballad, similar to Sheeran’s previous “Thinking Out Loud.”
“Photograph” will follow the release of Sheeran’s current single “Bloodstream,” which was officially released to radio on March 29, 2015 in the United Kingdom. Although a video has been released, Sheeran has yet to release the single to radio in the United States. The musician has also released “Sing,” “Don’t,” and “Thinking Out Loud” in support of the album. “Thinking Out Loud” has gone on to become Sheeran’s highest charting single to date in the United States. It was kept from the top spot by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars’s “Uptown Funk;” however, the single remained at number two for several weeks.
Since it’s release in June of 2014, Sheeran’s X has been well received by fans and critics across the globe. The album topped the Billboard 200 albums chart as well as the UK Albums Charts and several other international charts. At the end of 2014, it was selected as the number one album on the UK Albums Chart, while it finished up at number twenty-one on the Billboard 200 year-end chart. In America, the album has moved 1.4 million unites since its release.
Sheeran is currently embarked upon the X Tour in support of X. Earlier this month he made the news several times during a series of appearances in Australia and New Zealand, and he is currently performing a series of dates in South America. Afterwards, the “Thinking Out Loud” crooner will hit North America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand one more time before closing the concert off with a final show on December 12 in Auckland, New Zealand.
