Eminem: Top 8 Unbelievable Interview Quotes

Eminem is one of the most well-known and polarizing performers of his time. As such, the man has given a lot of interviews. Here, we present a comprehensive list of the eight most unbelievable things Eminem has ever said during interviews. Well, what are you waiting for? Check it out for yourself below!

Number Eight: On Politics

In July of 2015, Stephen Colbert interviewed the rapper on a public access show in Michigan titled Only in Monroe. Colbert interviewed him in his classic satirical style, and Em played along gloriously (albeit while a little confused). Colbert asked him if he was political, following up with “A lot of rap is political and some of it is good booty rhymes. Are you more political or just booty rhymes?” The rapper responded, “In the middle. Right in the crack, probably.”

Number Seven: Eminem on His Homophobic Lyrics

In 2010, Em was interviewed by The New York Times. When confronted with accusations that he writes homophobic and gay-bashing lyrics, he responded, “I think if two people love each other, then what the hell? I think that everyone should have the chance to be equally miserable, if they want.”

Number Six: On the Topic of Bill O’Reilly

In 2009, the rapper sat down with the Detroit Metro Times to talk about his music and the deteriorating scene in Detroit. In the interview, he was asked about his thoughts on Bill O’Reilly’s incendiary comments about him. He responded by saying, “Um…well, that guy’s a turd.”

Number Five: On Columbine

The rapper did an interview with Spin magazine in 2000. In the interview, he revealed that he sympathized with the Columbine shooters when he said, “That Columbine sh*t is so touchy. As much sympathy as we give the shootings, nobody ever looked at it from the point of view of the kids who were bullied. I’ve been that mad.”

Number Four: On Internet Trolls

The rapper sat down with GQ in 2011 for an interview. When discussing the process he went through while recording Recovery, Em revealed his more sensitive side. He said, “I would hear people saying this and that about Relapse. Certainly I’m not going to sit on the internet all day and read what Sam from Iowa is saying about me, but I’m a sponge. I’ve always been a sponge.”

Number Three: On the Effect His Music Has on Children

Eminem sat down with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes in 2010. In the interview, the rapper spoke out about the criticism he’s received from parents who claim his work negatively affects young people. He said, “I’m a parent, I have daughters. How would I really sound as a person walking around my house, ‘B**** pick this up.’ Profanity around my house, no. But this is music, this is my art, this is what I do.”

Number Two: On His Weight

The rapper was interviewed by Rolling Stone in 2011, and he had some interesting things to say about the fluctuations in his weight. It’s no secret that Em struggled after Proof died in 2006. He said that the grief he experienced after Proof’s death sent him into a terrible spiral. When asked what was happening to him physically, he responded, “I got so heavy that people started to not recognize me. I remember being somewhere and overhearing these kids talking. One of them said, ‘That’s Eminem,’ and the other said, ‘No it’s not, man – Eminem ain’t fat.’ I was like ‘Motherf***er.'”

Number One: On Inspiration

An earlier interview Rolling Stone did with the rapper in 1999 showcases a real Eminem gem. In the interview, Em describes the moment he met Slim Shady. He said, “Boom, the name hit me, and right away I thought of all these words to rhyme with it. So I wiped my ass, go up off the pot and, ah, went and called everybody I knew.” Thanks for reading!
