Fans Can See Scream Queens Before Premiere

FOX is giving eager fans the chance to see “Scream Queens,” as well as “The Grinder” and “Grandfathered,” on Tuesday, August 18 and Tuesday, August 25. Did I forget to mention that it’s free? The screenings of the new comedies will give people the chance to see the new shows before they premiere in September. The screenings will take place in 20 cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, Nashville, and Austin. The fans will also receive cool show gear, including shirts, bags, and hats.

“Scream Queens” follows a sorority as their lives and their campus are turned upside down by a series of murders that are somehow connected to a tragic incident from the past. Co-creator Ryan Murphy said the show is completely different from his FX show, “American Horror Story.” Both contain blood, violence, and, of course, screams, but they are not similar. ‘Scream Queens’ has a much more satirical, cartoonish quality than ‘American Horror Story’ does, which is much more sexualized and darker at times,” Murphy said.

“Scream Queens” stars Emma Roberts, whose character, Chanel, is based off Rebecca Martinson. In 2013, Martinson was nicknamed “Deranged Sorority Girl,” courtesy of social media, because of the homophobic and racist email she sent to her fellow sorority sisters. The email went viral and Martinson resigned from the Delta Gamma chapter of the University of Maryland.

The show also stars Lea Michele as Hester, a quirky Kappa pledge with scoliosis. “She makes me laugh all day!” Roberts’ said about Lea Michele’s portrayal of Hester. “ Literally, there was a scene where she doesn’t have any dialogue and she was just standing right here and I would have to look over her head. I was like, ‘I’m sorry, I’m not being rude, but if I look at you I will laugh so hard.’ I couldn’t even take it, it was just so funny!” Her character only has a few lines in the first episode but there is no doubt that Hester, nicknamed Neckbrace by Roberts’ character, will leave you crying with laughter.

Jamie Lee Curtis plays Dean Cathy Munsch, Keke Palmer plays Zayday Williams, and Skyler Samuels plays Grace Gardener. If you are not in one of the 20 cities for the exclusive advanced screening, check out “Scream Queens” on September 22 on FOX.
