Fans Finally Get Update on New Florence + the Machine Album Plus Tour Dates

Fans have been waiting for quite a while for new release or tour information from indie rock band Florence + the Machine and now we finally have both! Florence + the Machine’s most recent album was How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful in 2015 and rumors have their next album arriving in June 2018. The band was relatively quiet on upcoming releases until April 2017, when the frontman of Cold War Kids, Nathan Willett, hinted that he had worked on the band’s fourth album. Florence Welch, lead, confirmed this.

Let’s look at what the band has in store for fans. On Record Store Day, April 21, 2018 a new single, “A Sky Full of Song,” hit stores in as a special release. The 7” white-splattered vinyl also included  ‘New York Poem (for Polly),” a poem from Welch’s upcoming book, Useless Magic. Fans can see the creative mind of Welch at work through the book’s lyrics, artwork and prose. If you didn’t get a chance to pick up the vinyl for the singel, you can purchase “Sky Full of Song” online through most digital music services. The band also did a cover of “Tiny Dancer’ for the Elton John tribute album, Revamp, this month; the single can also be streamed on Spotify.

Florence + the Machine will perform and headline the BBC Music Biggest Weekend on May 26, 2018 alongside other performers Camila Cabello, Taylor Swift, Craig David and Ed Sheeran. The band is expected to share even more new music beyond the track “Sky Full of Song.” Today, on April 26, they announced their new plans. In May they’ll embark on a three-slot tour with one stop The Rolling Stones in UK:

Halifax, Victoria Theatre – May 5

Scunthorpe, Baths Hall – May 6

London, Royal Festival Hall – May 8

London, London Stadium – May 25 w/ The Rolling Stones

Welch last appeared with the Stones Mick Jagger in 2012. After the UK stint, Florence + the Machine will offer the U.S. for another short tour, with so far the dates as follows:

Los Angeles, FYF Festival – July 21-22

San Francisco, Outside Lands – August 10-12

Las Vegas, Life is Beautiful Festival – September 21-23

As for the upcoming album, High as Hope, the latest has come from the official Florence + the Machine fan club blog. The blog states that the album will likely have 10 tracks, including June, Sky Full of Song, Patricia and Hunger. Sky Full of Song is said to not be the lead single. High as Hope has a preliminary release date of June 29 and was reportedly produced by Mark Ronson. For now, fans can wait for the album and watch the new video for “Sky Full of Song” on YouTube or the official band website now.
