Fifth Harmony Joins the Ten Dollar Bill Debate

Last week, the Treasury Department announced a woman will appear on the $10 bill – which will be in circulation in 2020. The department stated they are seeking the opinion of the public in order to decide which woman will appear on the bill. This will mark the first time in US history that a woman will appear on the paper currency in 119 years. Rosa Parks, Elenor Roosevelt, Harriet Tubman, Sally Ride, and Oprah Winfrey have all come up in the discussion for the woman who should appear on the bill. Yesterday, Fifth Harmony gave their input on who they feel should grace the ten dollar bill. The pop group posted a picture of Oprah Winfrey on the paper currency, along with the caption “For the new 10 dollar bill… #BOSS #OprahDollas.” The group’s song “BO$$” previously referenced Winfrey with the lyrics, “Purse all heavy, gettin’ Oprah dollars.”

Fifth Harmony released their debut studio album Reflection earlier this year. The project features production by Dr. Luke, Stargate, and J.R. Rotem. Reflection entered the Billboard 200 at Number 5, after it sold over 80,000 copies in its first week. It also impacted the charts in Brazil, Canada, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Switzerland, and Australia. “Bo$$,” Sledgehammer,” and “Worth It” (featuring Kid Ink) have been dropped as singles. “Worth It” is the Fifth Harmony’s highest-charting single, so far. The song peaked at Number 1 in Israel and Lebanon, and it also reached five singles charts in the US. Those US charts include Mainstream Top 40 at Number 8, Billboard Hot 100 at Number 15, Dance/Mix Show AirPlay at Number 19, Rhythmic at Number 20, and Adult Top 40 at Number 39. To date, Reflection has sold over one million copies.
