Firefly Music Festival has officially revealed the lineup for their 2015 show, and more than 125 bands and musicians will be gracing the stage at the four-day event. Kings of Leon, The Killers, and one final, currently unnamed act will be headlining the festival. They will be appearing alongside established acts such as Snoop Dogg, Zedd, and Foster the People. This is The Killers’ second time headlining the show; they first took the stage in 2012. Newer acts including Charli XCX, Jon Bellion, Tove Lo, and Broods will also be gracing the stage among many others.
Although rumors are circulating that Paul McCartney will be the third headliner, representatives for the festival have not released any official confirmation yet, claiming that they are still in the process of finalizing the contract. Firefly Music Festival will be taking place June 18-21 at The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Dover, Delaware. Tickets will be available for purchase at the festival’s official website, and both standard and VIP options are available. Keep your eyes peeled for news regarding the last headliner and the start of ticket sales.
Firefly Music Festival was founded in 2012 and is produced by the Chicago-based event-planning company, Red Frog Events. The company’s intent with the festival was to provide an “open-air festival on the East Coast with plenty of outdoor camping, much like the Bonnaroo music festival in Tennessee.” The festival has been heralded as “The East Coast’s Premier Music Experience.” The event will boast seven stages as well as a variety of other activities for patrons including an arcade (referred to as the “Beercade”), a coffee house for more intimate performances, a party area known as the “Thicket,” as well as a relaxation area commonly referred to as “Hammock Hangout.” Red Frog Events teams up with the local Dogfish Head Brewery to provide award-winning beer to patrons of age. In recent years the festival has worked alongside the experts at Dogfish to develop Firefly Ale, a pale ale exclusive to the festival.
Similar to most large music festivals, patrons will have the opportunity to camp at the event or will be able to stay in local hotels. Firefly Music Festival and its promoters have gone to great measures to ensure that the event stands apart from other music festivals. Not only are they providing music lovers with yet another festival, but they are also concerned with protecting the environment and bettering the lives of others. Since its founding year, Firefly Music Festival has partnered up with charities such as Toms Shoes and St. Jude’s to raise funds for children afflicted with cancer. The event has also gone to great lengths to ensure that they are sustainable and focused on protecting the environment, going as far as to provide free water and encouraging patrons to recycle water bottles as much as possible. Talk about making a difference while providing exceptional music.
