FKA Twigs: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 2)

We already brought you part one of our list of 15 things you probably did not know about FKA Twigs, and now we’re back with part two! Check out eight more fascinating facts about the singer and dancer that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!

Number Eight: She Likes Experimenting. Twigs has come under fire for her sexually explicit lyrics. However, she has staunchly defended them, saying that she’d “rather be experimenting with intelligent sexuality” than doing what society expects of her.

Number Seven: She Has Covered Sam Smith. Twigs covered Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me” in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge. She mentioned that she wanted to cover it because she could relate to a line that described a relationship where the two people weren’t in love, but they were happy with the situation.

Number Six: She Is Not a Party Girl. In fact, Twigs would rather be alone than at a big party. She has said that she is a loner and is also a quiet person, and she has spent her life focusing on what she wants to, rather than what other people want her to.

Number Five: She Can Bartend. When her career was just beginning to blossom, Twigs had to work as a bartender so she could fund her budding image. Thankfully she kept at it, because look at her now!

Number Four: She Likes Uniqlo Menswear. Twigs has said that she is not satisfied conforming to what society expects of the female image, and she is most comfortable in Uniqlo menswear. She says this makes her comfortable because of her petite build.

Number Three: She Is a Good Kisser. In an interview with Billboard, Twigs recounted a time in which she complimented a boy’s kissing skills, and he replied, “You’re only as good as the person you’re kissing.” She used the anecdote to describe the provocative nature of her music, and she believes her music is only as provocative as the person listening to it.

Number Two: She Has Impressive Influences. In an interview with Red Bull Music Academy, Twigs said that her biggest influences are Marvin Gaye, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday.

Number One: She Is a Catholic School Girl. Twigs attended St. Edward’s School, located in Cheltenham, on a scholarship when she was growing up.
