Following their show-stopping performance at Bonnaroo, Florence + the Machine are taking their talents to Glastonbury. The band has been named as the replacements for the Foo Fighters, who had to cancel their headlining gig at Glastonbury because of David Grohl’s leg injury. Grohl fractured his leg, after taking a fall onstage in Sweden. Ironically, Florence and the Machine had to cancel their gig at Coachella (weekend two), due to Florence’s foot injury. The singer broke her foot during weekend one of the Coachella festival. “Once we heard Foo Fighters had been forced to pull out, there was only one person we wanted to call and that was Florence,” Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis stated. The sold-out festival will take place from June 24th through the 28th. Kanye West and The Who are the other headliners of the event, and some of the artists named to this year’s lineup include Mary J. Blige, Alabama Shakes, Pharrell Williams, Paloma Faith, Motörhead, Rudimental, and The Chemical Brothers.
Florence and the Machine just released some new dates for their worldwide tour. The tour is in support of the band’s project How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. The project entered the US Albums chart at Number 1, becoming the band’s first chart-topping project on the Billboard 200.
How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful features the singles “What Kind of Man,” “St. Jude,” “Ship to Wreck,” and “Delilah.” The single “Delilah” was released in May, and it peaked at Number 12 on the Rock Digital Songs chart. It also reached Number 21 on the Hot Rock Songs and Number 36 on Twitter Top Tracks.
Florence and The Machine‘s extended tour dates: June 5th in New York (New York) at Governors Ball; June 9th in Columbia (Maryland); June 10th in Boston (Massachusetts); June 11th in Chattanooga (Tennessee); June 12th in Toronto (Ontario); June 26th in Pilton (England) at Glastonbury; October 11th in Austin (Texas); October 13th in Phoenix (Arizona); October 14th in San Diego (California); October 16th and 17th in Los Angeles (California); October 20th in Santa Barbara (California); October 24th in Portland (Oregon); and October 27th in Seattle (Washington).
FDRMX Eyes: This a fun video by indie pop group Kali Briis for the song “I Love Your Face”. It starts off with stylized birds that look similar to penguins, flipping switches on and off to the metronome-like beat, and then it gets interesting. Check out the video here.
