Green Day to Perform First Live Show of the Year

Green Day will perform on April 16th at the House of Blues in Cleveland (OH). This is the band’s first live show since performing at South By Southwest (SXSW) last year. Two days after their performance in Cleveland, Green Day will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Green Day’s Mike Dirnt (guitarist) revealed the band is really nervous and super excited about their induction into the infamous “Hall.” Along with Green Day, Bill Withers, the late Lou Reed, Ringo Starr, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, The “5” Royales, and Joan Jett & the Blackhearts will be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame as well.

The Rock Hall presenters for the awards ceremony were announced last month. Each presenter will honor the new inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Stevie Wonder will present to Bill Withers, Patti Smith is honoring the late Lou Reed, and Paul McCartney will present the Rock Hall’s Award For Musical Excellence to his Beatles bandmate Ringo Starr. Starr is the last member of The Beatles to receive the Musical Excellence award as a solo musician.

The other presenters for the Hall of Fame ceremony include Fall Out Boy honoring Green Day, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble will receive their award from John Mayer, and The “5” Royales will be presented their award by Steve Cropper. The presenter for Joan Jett & the Blackhearts has yet to be announced, although there is speculation Dave Grohl will present the award to Jett.

John Legend, Dave Grohl, Beck, Tom Morello, Jimmie Vaughan, and Joe Walsh are some of the performers for the Hall of Fame ceremony. The Hall of Fame event will take place in Cleveland (OH) on April 18th, and it will broadcast on HBO on May 30th.

Green Day has released eleven studio albums, all of which have totaled over 75 million albums sold. In total, Green Day has won five Grammy Awards, including the Record of the Year award for “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” Besides “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” some of Green Day’s most-known hits include “When I Come Around,” “Good Riddance,” and “Holiday.”
