Greg Holden: ‘Hold On Tight’ Single Review

When I first listened to “Hold On Tight,” my first thought was: who is Greg Holden and why have I never heard of him before? Turns out, I had heard of him before. His song “The Lost Boy” was used during Season 5 of (my favorite show) Sons of Anarchy. I would tell you which scene, but it’s still too difficult to talk about (RIP OPIE). Now back to Greg Holden, “Hold On Tight” caught me completely off guard. I’m not sure what I was expecting, but a mini dance party at my desk is what ended up happening. The song begins with the strumming of strings on a guitar and Holden’s soothing voice, then the addition of a drum, and slowly but surely, the energy of the song picks up until you are listening to a full fledge anthem for: LIFE.

Being that it is January, this is the perfect song to begin the new year with. Come on! We all did it; the resolutions, the proclamations of a new beginning, the decision to look at life in a new way. This is your chance – use this song as your guide to a better YOU. The song serves as a wonderful reminder to be thankful for what you have, “Don’t take your life for granted / Why don’t you hold on tight to what you’ve been handed?” There is nothing I love more than songs that inspires and motivates you to do something with your life, and Greg Holden completely nailed it with “Hold On Tight.” The positivity in the song is insistently contagious and you can’t help but smile throughout the entire song. I give you seven seconds to fall in love with the song (the seven second mark is when you first hear Holden’s voice, I’m just saying) and to begin recommending it to all of your friends.

The Scottish-born, English-raised singer-songwriter is set to release his album Chase the Sun on April 14th and if this single is any indication of what’s to come from the album, then we should prepare ourselves for an inspirational musical journey. I know, I know April 14th seems like light years away, but you can pre-order the album now. So go, pre-order and send “Hold On Tight” to anyone that may be needing a pick-me-up today.
