Grimes: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

A very unique Canadian artist, Grimes (real name Claire Boucher) is steadily growing in popularity. She was born in 1988 in Vancouver but now tours in many places. Though many have heard of her, not a lot of people know these facts.

Number Fifteen: Grimes Does Not Like Her Lisp Being Called ‘Cute’

If you’re a fan of her, you already have noticed the lisp, but don’t call it adorable. She thinks calling a speech impediment adorable is just ridiculous.

Number Fourteen: She’s a Big Fan of Psy

Everyone knows about “Gangnam Style”, and many people hate on the song. Grimes is not one of these people. She is very impressed with the fact that Psy wrote, produced, and directed the music video for his hit single.

Number Thirteen: She’s Bad at English

Though multi-talented and seemingly quite smart, she struggled in English class at school. She had to take extra classes and often got pulled aside because of her bad spelling.

Number Twelve: Marilyn Manson Was a Big Idol of Hers

Grimes was raised in a Catholic household and saw Marilyn Manson as a representation of everything opposite of her upbringing. She also enjoys his performances, music, and clothing style.

Number Eleven: She Has Akathisia

This means she fidgets continuously due to a natural ever-present sensation of restlessness. People think she is on drugs a lot of the time because she talks very fast, but it’s just due to the disorder.

Number Ten: Grimes Locked Herself Up for Nine Days For Inspiration

With her last album, Visions, she was so determined to create something amazing that she spent three weeks alone. Nine of those days she had no food or sleep. Interesting method, and I would say that’s quite a bit of determination.

Number Nine: She Would Love to Work with Nicki Minaj

I found this pretty surprising because they don’t seem like artists with compatible genres, but it’s true, she wants to work with Nicki. Who knows, it could happen. We hope you enjoyed part one of this list of interesting facts about Grimes, don’t forget to check back for the second part.
