Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale File for Divorce

After 13 years of marriage, celebrity couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have decided to call it quits. It is reported that 45-year-old Stefani was the one to file for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” in her divorce petition. Stefani also denied spousal support and filed for joint custody of the couple’s three sons, Kingston (age 9), Zuma (age 6), and Apollo (age 1).

In a joint statement released to the press on Monday, August 3, Stefani and Rossdale stated, “While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment.” At this point, sources state that Stefani and Rossdale’s top priority is making sure that their kids feel safe and secure during this difficult time. On another note, since a prenuptial agreement was not drawn up before Stefani and Rossdale’s marriage, California’s 50/50 property law comes into effect. All of Stefani’s and Rossdale’s shared property will be compiled together before being divided equally between the two.

Many people all around the world are heartbroken at the news that Stefani and Rossdale, one of their favorite celebrity couples, are splitting up. While Stefani only cites irreconcilable differences in her divorce petition, rumors of infidelity on Rossdale’s part with Courtney Love have been swirling around for years. In 2010, Love claimed that she slept with the Bush singer and that Stefani even knew about it. TMZ reports that several more cheating allegations are what finally led up to Stefani’s decision to file for divorce.

Stefani and Rossdale first met on tour in 1995 when Stefani’s band, No Doubt, was the opening act for Rossdale’s group, Bush. One night, after a performance in New Orleans, Rossdale threw an impromptu party as an excuse to talk to Stefani, and later that night, the couple shared their first kiss. After seven years of dating, Stefani and Rossdale got married in London on September 14, 2002.

Stefani and Rossdale’s divorce marks the end of yet another musical power couple’s relationship. Their unfortunate divorce comes directly on the heels of Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert’s split just two weeks ago.
