Hillary Clinton Will Appear on Miley Cyrus-Hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’

Taking a brief break from her current presidential campaign, Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton will be swinging by the East Coast to appear on an episode of Saturday Night Live, which will be hosted by Miley Cyrus. The Wrap is reporting that this October 3rd season 41 premier will see Clinton on stage with SNL cast member Kate McKinnon, who frequently impersonates the former Secretary of State, in the show’s cold open. Apparently, Clinton was so excited to jump on this opportunity that she turned down a chance to deliver a keynote address to Human Rights Campaign, which is the prominent gay and lesbian rights group.

This is will not be the first time Hillary Clinton has made an appearance on Saturday Night Live. The presidential candidate previously showed up on the live sketch comedy series 7 years ago in 2008, standing next to Amy Poehler who was famously doing her Clinton impersonation. In this new proposed skit, it is being said that Mrs. Clinton will more than likely be taking this as an opportunity to fix her public image. Doing things like making fun of herself for trying to appear more authentic, while keeping her eye on the Oval Office. McKinnon, who has been public about being a very big Clinton supporter, told The New York Times’s Maureen Dowd that Hillary Clinton was “a staunch, passionate lady, and in our culture, unfortunately, there’s something funny about that.”

The SNL appearance this Saturday, according to one source, could suddenly be cancelled or delayed if something urgent were to come up on the campaign right before the show airs. Clinton has been making the rounds at talk shows recently, appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, stopping by NBC’s Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and doing an interview for Lenny, the online newsletter created by the actress and writer Lena Dunham.

Saturday Night Live‘s entire cast from the season prior will be on deck to return, The entire cast from last season will return, along with the newest cast member Jon Rudnitsky. The Season 41 premiere will air this Saturday, with Miley Cyrus not only being the host, but the episode’s musical guest as well. Cyrus recently made headlines with her strange VMA hosting duties, going through a wide range of bizarre outfight choices and the overall craziness the young singer has been known for lately.
