We already brought you part one of our list of 10 things you didn’t know about H&M, and now we’re back with part two! Check out five more fascinating facts about the iconic brand that you definitely (probably) did not know. You might be surprised by what you find out!
Number Five: Every Store Has a Sale Rack. It’s true! While some brands coordinate the sales they have in stores, and others individualize sales depending on the store, the H&M brand makes sure that every single one of their stores has a sale rack in it at all times.
Number Four: You Can Return Online Purchases In-Store. If you buy something from H&M online and want to return it, rather than pay the cost of shipping the item(s) back, you can return the items to a store location in New York City.
Number Three: Keep an Eye on Those Designer Collections. Though most designer collections at H&M tend to sell out extremely quickly, whatever doesn’t sell out eventually gets marked down. Check the store about a week after the collection is released to look for high-quality sale items.
Number Two: It Uses More Organic Cotton Than Any Other Brand. H&M uses more organic cotton than any other brand in the world. The brand has been an advocate of environmentally friendly clothing for years, so it’s about time everyone else caught on. However, the brand has also experienced some controversy surrounding its use of cotton. In 2013, Anti-Slavery International alleged that H&M was continuing its association with an organization that had knowingly exploited child and adult labor surrounding the harvesting of cotton in Uzbekistan. The name of the organization was Daewoo.
Number One: More Than Half of the Company’s Board of Directors Are Women. Girl power! More than half of the people on H&M’s board of directors are women. There are 12 members on H&M’s board of directors, and there are seven women. Their names are Lottie Knutson, Sussi Kvart, Lena Patriksson Keller, Margareta Welinder, Ingrid Godin, Rita Hansson, and Alexandra Rosenqvist.
