Sometimes the craziest twist of fate will occur in life. When these two identical kittens were first born in their litter they were practically inseparable. Then during the adoption process, they were separated. Somehow, through a rare twist of fate, they were brought back together by love!
20. A Kitty Litter
Back in July 2014, Petaluma Animal Services in California came across a litter of ginger kittens. There were six kittens to be precise and so the animal shelter decided to take them in.
19. Foster Homes
Petaluma then began the process of finding foster homes for each of the kittens. However, there were two kittens in particular that seemed to be attached at the hip. They were two brothers named Ozzie and Butter.
18. Paired Off
So Ozzie and Butter were paired together when it came to sending off the kittens to a foster home. Ozzie and Butter were incredibly close and they were always spotted together. The brothers especially loved to cuddle together.
17. Discovery
One day, Cathleen Cavin and her daughter Cali came across the two kittens. They fell in love with the brothers and decided that they would adopt one of them!
16. Only One
Cali immediately asked her mother if she could adopt both of the brothers. However, Cathleen didn’t think that would be such a good idea. After all, their landlord wouldn’t allow it.
15. One Cat
So Cathleen and Cali walked away with Ozzie and unfortunately had to leave Butter behind. Everyone was heartbroken about having to leave Butter behind. The brothers especially were brokenhearted.
14. Heartbroken
“We’re crying as we’re leaving,” Cavin told The Press Democrat, “just devastated that we couldn’t take both. They look absolutely identical.” For the next few days, it was obvious to Cathleen that Ozzie was pretty sad and lonely without his brother.
13. Whimpering
Over the next couple of days, poor Ozzie would whimper and let out little cries for his brother. Cathleen was heartbroken by his behavior and decided to talk to her landlord. She was determined to adopt Butter as well.
12. Calling
So the next day Cathleen called the shelter. However, she got the most surprising news! Butter was no longer available to be adopted.
11. Four Days Ago
It seems that Butter had already been adopted by someone else four days earlier. So Cathleen just accepted that she would never see Butter again. Then something incredibly out of the ordinary occurred.
10. Dating App
Recently, Cathleen began talking with a man named Brian Herrera on a dating app. The more they talked the more they realized how similar their lives were. Not only were they both born in the Bay area, but they also both recently adopted a cat.
9. Chatting
So the pair continued to chat for the next two months. Finally, Brian asked Cathleen out and although she was initially hesitant she agreed to meet up. So the two of them met up for dinner.
8. Drinks
After dinner, the pair headed over to Brian’s home for drinks. It was there that Cathleen noticed a familiar sight. She saw a cat that looked exactly identical to Ozzie.
7. Identical Cats
“I start looking at the cat, and I’m like, ‘That’s my cat. You have my cat,’” Cathleen said. “And he’s like, ‘No, that’s my cat.’ So he thought I was some crazy cat lady, and I said, ‘No, I promise you. Come over to my house.’”
6. Next Day
The very next day, Brian headed over to Cathleen’s house and was shocked by what he saw. Cathleen’s cat really did look identical to his. It was then that the two of them decided to compare adoption papers to see what was up.
5. Reunited
When they finally compared adoption papers Cathleen realized that it was Brian who had adopted Butter. Cathleen couldn’t believe the way that fate brought all of them together. It was an undeniable miracle.
4. Twin Brother
“This is the twin brother I told my daughter I’d been searching for forever,” she said. Finally, on Valentine’s Day, after being apart for 2 1/2 years, Ozzie and Butter were reunited. So how did they react?!
3. Emotional Reunion
It was quite the emotional reunion when Butter and Ozzie first saw each other again. They recognized each other instantly and quickly ran over to each other. It was as if they hadn’t been absent from each other’s lives for the past 2 1/2 years.
2. Moving In
Then in March 2017, Brian, Cathleen, and their daughters all moved in together. The couple is still together today and everyone is so happy and the merging of the families. However, no one is as happy as Ozzie and Butter.
1. Happily Together
Now the entire family is living together under one roof. They are all happily enjoying their life together. Ozzie and Butter are incredibly grateful for this odd twist of fate that brought them back together.
