Jimmy Chamberlin, Smashing Pumpkins Reuniting

“Reunited and it feels so good,” are the lyrics from the 1970s classic “Reunited” by Peaches & Herb, and those lyrics are a testament to the announcement made by the Smashing Pumpkins today. The band revealed former member Jimmy Chamberlin is reuniting with the band for their summer tour. The drummer is the original member of the band, which was formed in 1988, and he remained a member of Smashing Pumpkins for 14 years. After leaving the band in 2002, Chamberlain returned to Smashing Pumpkins in 2005, but he left the group again after just four years. “We are thrilled Jimmy is back in the saddle this summer to drive a super high octane set. It’s nice to see the stars aligning around Smashing Pumpkins anew,” frontman Billy Corgan stated.

Some of their studio projects include Gish (1991), Siamese Dream (1993), Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995), and the most recent effort Monuments to an Elegy (2014). Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadnessentered the Billboard 200 at Number 1, after it sold over 200,000 copies in its first week. Led by the singles “Bullet with Butterfly Wings,” “1979,” “Tonight Tonight,” “Zero,” “Muzzle,” and Thirty-Three,” the project eventually reached Diamond certification (over ten million albums sold).
