Check out eight more fascinating facts about the talk show host and comedian that you definitely (probably) did not know below. You might be surprised by what you find out!
Number Eight: His Balls Were Person of the Year. In 2006, TIME Magazine’s person of the year was “You,” and the cover featured a mirror on it. Kimmel played a prank on Sarah Silverman and his kids by calling them over in an airport excitedly to tell them that his balls had won person of the year while he held the magazine next to his crotch.
Number Seven: He Bought His Parents a House. When he was little, Kimmel remembers walking on the California beaches with his parents and they would talk about wishing they could live there. In 2006, as a nice gesture, Kimmel surprised his parents with a house on Hermosa Beach.
Number Six: He’s Pretty Normal. Kimmel is good friends with Ben Affleck, and according to Affleck, they have a relatively normal friendship together. Affleck says they will often just hang out and watch television shows together. Speaking of television…
Number Five: He Gets Advanced DVDs of Game of Thrones. Kimmel might be a good guy to know because he gets the episodes of Game of Thrones before they even air!
Number Four: He Is Terrified of the Ocean. John Krasinski was in Mexico with Kimmel when he asked Kimmel to go paddleboarding with him. Though Kimmel is terrified of the ocean, he agreed so Krasinski would have someone to keep him company. Later on, Kimmel revealed that he actually blacked out from fear because he hates the ocean so much.
Number Three: He Used to Make Earrings. When Kimmel was little, he used a Xerox machine to shrink the covers of magazines like National Enquirer and Weekly World and turn them into earrings. He would go around to stores to try and sell them, but clearly things didn’t really pan out.
Number Two: He Brought Soup to Lena Dunham. Kimmel and his wife were hosting a barbecue, and they invited Dunham. However, Dunham was ill and could not attend. As a kind gesture, Kimmel made soup and dropped it at Dunham’s gate. However, someone must have stolen the soup, because she never could find it!
Number One: He Is Crafty as Hell. According to wife Molly McNearney, Kimmel goes all out on the holidays and would make any Pinterest fanatic jealous. He hand-crafts every Christmas card, buys an individualized gift for everyone in his life, and turns his house into what is essentially the North Pole.
