Former frontman of Oasis Noel Gallagher has recently released his third album as a solo artist, and it is performing quite well. The album Chasing Yesterday topped the UK Albums Chart and performed well in America, hitting number 35 on the Billboard 200. The album has performed so well that it has attracted the attention of legendary guitarists Johnny Marr and Paul Weller, both of whom have nothing but positive things to say about Gallagher and his skills as a solo artist.
Marr, who has recently joined Gallagher onstage for a performance at Manchester Arena, claimed that the artist has created a new sound that is entirely his own and all the more exciting as a result. “When I played with him recently, it’s interesting because he’s filled up this arena and managed to do it by inventing a new kind of Noel music which does what you want from it.” He went on to explain what he meant, claiming “he still does big melodies, big choruses, and places really amazing feeling in there. But it’s a new kind of thing he’s doing.” Marr went on to describe Gallagher as a “national treasure” and claimed “he doesn’t need to reform Oasis.”
Weller supported those claims, furthering them by stating that Gallagher’s solo work is more than enough. “I couldn’t give a f*** if Oasis got back together again because I like what he does now.” The guitarist explained that Gallagher seems to get “better and better” and described his new album as “wicked,” in a good way.
Gallagher left Oasis behind in 2009, citing tension between himself and his brother and fellow founding member Liam Gallagher. Since then the rest of Oasis continued to work together under the new name of Beady Eye. This split led to Noel Gallagher pursuing a career of his own. His first release The Dreams We Have as Children – Live at the Royal Albert Hall was released in 2009. Sales of the album benefited the Teenage Cancer Trust, and it was recorded in 2007. His first true album of new material, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, was released in 2011.
Since their split, Oasis has released a compilation album as well as several reissued albums in honor of the 20th anniversary of their breakout album Definitely Maybe. The band has reunited to perform at the London Olympics Closing Ceremony in 2012, though Noel Gallagher went on to refer to Beady Eye’s as “Stratford’s finest Oasis tribute band” after the performance.
FDRMX Eyes: Project Revival is a rock outfit from Tel Aviv, Israel. The band has released a new music video entitled “Pain.”
