Keith Urban‘s gig as a judge on American Idol may be coming to an end, but his music career continues to strive. The country singer released his Fuse album in 2013, and the project has produced four Number 1 singles. The chart toppers include “Lit Bit of Everything,” “We Were Us” featuring Miranda Lambert, “Somewhere in My Car,” and his recent Number 1 “Raise ‘Em Up” featuring Eric Church. Fuse is Urban’s eighth studio album, which reached the top of the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
The last episode of the season for American Idol will air on May 13th. Tonight’s episode will feature performances by Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, Jamie Foxx, New Kids on the Block, and Pitbull. The season finale, which will air on May 13th, will have performances by Chris Brown, Fall Out Boy, Vance Joy, Janelle Monae, Prince Royce, Michael McDonald, Ricky Martin, and the Jacksons. There is a possibility American Idol will pay tribute to the late Michael Jackson, who began his career as the lead singer of the Jacksons (or the Jackson 5). The Jackson 5 also consisted of Michael’s brothers Jermaine, Marlon, Randy, and Jackie. The American Idol judges, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez, and Harry Connick Jr. will also take the stage for the season finale. The trio performed on the show’s season finale last year. American Idol has been renewed for one more season, and it will be the final season for the singing competition show.
Besides Fuse, Urban has also dropped the projects Keith Urban (only released in Australia), Keith Urban, Golden Road, Be Here, Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, Defying Gravity, and Get Closer. The country singer’s Get Closer album produced the singles “Put You in a Song,” “Without You,” “Long Hot Summer,” and “You Gonna Fly.” The project was certified Gold in the US, after it sold over 500,000 copies.
Even though Urban won’t be heading out on a big tour this year, he is scheduled to make appearances at a few venues and several music festivals. In June, Urban will travel to the Taste of Country Music Festival in Hunter (NY) on the 12th. The following day, he will perform in Jacksonville (FL). Urban’s other shows in June include stops in Sheridan (NY) on the 18th, Grand Junction (CO) on the 19th, Columbus (OH) on the 21st, Mount Pleasant (MI) on the 25th, Milwaukee (WI) on the 26th, and Cadott (WI) on the 27th for the Country Fest.
