Kelly Clarkson’s New Album Features John Legend

Kelly Clarkson made a confession during an interview with BBC Radio 1; the singer admitted she had a vey difficult time getting artists to do a guest feature on her new album. “I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no to me. I have legitimately asked several people that I’m not going to call out,” Clarkson told BBC Radio. The pop singer added, “I ask good people, I don’t want to sing with crap people. I ask people who are great vocalists, sometimes I feel like I have the plague.” Back in 2013, Clarkson tweeted that she had watched a few “pitchy” performances at the MTV Video Music Awards. Some of pop music’s biggest stars performed that night including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Miley Cyrus. Clarkson never called out any names that night, but a lot of people speculated she was referring to her fellow pop musicians.

The singer is currently putting the finishing touches on her long awaited Piece By Piece project. One singer who did not turn down Clarkson’s request was John Legend. “I got John Legend to say yes and he’s so cool. I feel like I’m a very nice person that you might want to sing with me. I can get country artists to sing with me and John Legend,” the singer said. Clarkson continued, “I’m gonna keep John Legend. He’s super credible and talented. I feel very good about myself with that one.” Clarkson’s album is set to be released on March 3rd. Ironically, the singer tweeted that her single, “Piece By Piece,” would feature a duet with a familiar recording artist she has worked with in the past. I guess we can assume the song will feature a country music artist or John Legend.

The pop singer gained her notoriety on American Idol, after she won the first season. Clarkson has dropped six studio albums including Thankful, Breakaway, and Stronger. To date, the pop singer has sold over twenty million albums worldwide. She has also headlined and co-headlined very successful tours with Reba McEntire, and former American Idol contestant Clay Aiken. In 2008, Clarkson and McEntire embarked on the 2 Worlds 2 Voices Tour, which became one of the most successful cross-genre tours. Some music critics didn’t think the tour would fair-well with fans because Clarkson is a pop singer, and McEntire is a country music artist. The critics also believed the huge age difference would deter some audiences. The two singers were able to prove the critics wrong, and Clarkson and McEntire were praised for their undeniable chemistry. In 2013, Kelly Clarkson married Reba McEntire’s stepson Brandon Blackstock
