Kim Jong-un is one of the most-watched people in the world. The 33-year-old supreme leader has earned quite the reputation as both a leader and a public figure. However, despite the fact that Jong-un has spent a considerable amount of time in the spotlight and under the scrutiny of the public eye, there are still some things that many people don’t know. With that in mind, here we present our list of 15 things you probably didn’t know about Kim Jong-un. Check out part one below, and stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
Number Fifteen: He Attended School in Switzerland. Jong-un went by the alias of Pak-un while in school so nobody would recognize him as the son of Kim Jong-il. Though he reportedly did very badly in math and science, he excelled in music.
Number Fourteen: He Is the Only General With No Military Experience. Despite the fact that Jong-un is the supreme leader of the world’s fourth-largest military, he has absolutely no military experience.
Number Thirteen: He Is the World’s Youngest Leader. Although just how young he is is unclear. Jong-un was reportedly 28 when he assumed the position of supreme leader, but his date of birth has been highly contested. It is unclear whether Jong-un was born in 1982, 1983, or 1984.
Number Twelve: He Wants People to Believe He Could Drive When He Was Three Years Old. Jong-un has perpetuated the myth that he learned how to drive when he was just three years old. However, logistically speaking, it’s basically impossible for a three-year-old to both control the steering wheel and hit the pedals of a car, so there’s that.
Number Eleven: He Loves American Food. It’s no secret that Jong-un is a big fan of food, but he is especially fond of Americanized food like pizza, french fries, and hamburgers. He even rewrote North Korean legislation so everyone (who can afford it) can partake in the pizza.
Number Ten: He Ordered Some Strange Executions. Jong-un was so incensed by a man who got drunk during the mourning period of Kim Jong-il that he ordered him to be killed by mortar fire. Jong-un has also ordered people to be executed by hungry dogs, anti-aircraft guns, and flamethrowers.
Number Nine: He Loves Michael Jordan. You might know that Jong-un is close with former NBA star Dennis Rodman, but Jong-un has an even deeper love for basketball. Jong-un is a fan of the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant.
