Lil Kim: 15 Things You Didn’t Know (Part 1)

Lil Kim is known as one of the best female rappers to date. She is also known for having Notorious BIG as a BFF. The Queen B has been in the public eye for many years. Here are 15 interesting facts about Lil Kim that you probably did not know. Please stay tuned for part two of this article.

Number Fifteen: She was Banned From Recording a New Album. You heard right. When Lil Kim was released from prison back in 2007, she was unhappy with her label. She had to fight it out in court which took a little over 2 years. After that incident, she had another issue with TrackMasters. She was ordered by the court not to release any albums. It took a little over 5 years to get the final OK to release her next album.

Number Fourteen: Notorious BIG Forbade Her From Making an Album with Jodeci. For those of us who lived through the 90’s, we all know the musical group Jodeci. At the beginning of Lil Kim’s career, they asked her to be on their single Luv-U-4 Life. This didn’t sit well with BIG who was furious and asked her to turn it down, which she did.

Number Thirteen: She Called Nicki Minaj a Hater. If you are a Lil Kim fan then you must have heard all of the rumors between her and Nicki Minaj. In an interview with Rap-Up.com Lil Kim talks about the rumors stating that Nicki Minaj is lame to her, and that a haters jobs is to hate.

Number Twelve: She Let Jennifer Dolton Crash at Her Place. Real Housewives of New Jersey star Jennifer Dolton and Lil Kim have been friends for over 18 years. When Jennifer was facing her real life drama and divorce, Lil Kim let her and her daughter crash at her place.

Number Eleven: She Was Removed from Monica’s Album. Lil Kim recorded a verse on a track from Monica’s seventh studio album, “New Life” with Rick Ross as a featured guest. Unfortunately, on the album release, they removed Lil Kim’s guest spot. Supposedly it was shortened to live more room for Rick Ross.

Number Ten: She Sues Her Business Partner and Looses. Lil Kim sued her ex-business partners for 1 million dollars. She states they were making more than half of her earnings using her trademark and likeness. Her ex-partner counter sued stating they lost money due to her not showing up for many appearances etc. The court later threw out the case when Lil Kim would not show up for her own case.

Number Nine: Her Ex-Boyfriend Robbed Rappers. In a surprising testimony by one of the key witnesses in Damion Hardy’s case. It was stated that Lil Kim’s ex would host a rapper’s release party dropping his then girlfriend’s name as bait, and then rob the musicians. There is no evidence stating that Lil Kim had any knowledge of what Hardy was doing.

Number Eight: She Has a Course Named After Her. There is a course taught by English professor Thomas Gregg at Syracuse University in New York City  called “The Life and Time of Lil Kim”.
