Lil Wayne Joins Tidal As A Co-Owner

Lil Wayne has joined Tidal as one of the music and video streaming company’s co-owners. In order to officially stamp his involvement with Tidal, Wayne dropped a new song called “Glory” exclusively through the streaming service. It has been reported that the New Orleans rapper will also perform an exclusive show for subscribers, which is a part of the service’s private concerts called Tidal X. “We’re honored for Lil Wayne to join Tidal. His eagerness to release an exclusive Tidal track and schedule a Tidal X performance is just another example of how passionately artists care about getting their music to fans,” Tidal executive Vania Schlogel said in a statement. Further details regarding the concert have not been revealed, but Jay Z, Jack White, and J. Cole have all performed shows exclusively on Tidal. Wayne’s Free Weezy is expected to be released soon, and there is a possibility the project will only be available to Tidal subscribers.

An Atlanta man who has been accused of shooting at Lil Wayne‘s tour bus in April, has surrendered to authorities. Jimmy Carlton Winfrey is being held in an Atlanta (GA) jail without bond. According to reports, Winfrey has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a felon, terroristic threats, criminal damage to property, discharging a firearm on or near a public highway, reckless conduct, and criminal gang activity. The suspect is allegedly affiliated with the Bloods gang, and authorities believe the shooting was an “effort to gain status as a Blood by committing a high profile shooting of a rival rap artist.” As the two tour buses were departing the Compound nightclub in Atlanta, multiple shots were fired at the vehicles. No one was injured in the shooting, and Lil Wayne, rapper Hood, Lil Twist, and Young Money staff members were all onboard the buses during the shooting.

There are reports that Winfrey is a member of Young Thug’s entourage. Thug has been put in the middle of the controversy between Wayne and Cash Money Records’ CEO Bryan “Birdman” Williams. Wayne is suing Cash Money and Birdman for over $50 million dollars. Wayne’s Tha Carter V album is in limbo because Cash Money refuses to drop the project. The highly-anticipated album will be the fifth installment of Wayne’s Carter series, which includes Tha Carter, Tha Carter II, Tha Carter III, and Tha Carter IV. Tha Carter IV was dropped in 2011, and it features the singles “6 Foot 7,” “John,” “How to Love,” “She Will,” “It’s Good,” and “Mirror.”
