To Write Love On Her Arms flagship event HEAVY & LIGHT is returning in 2015, and the non-profit have thrilled supporters with news of the coming year’s lineup. Heading to two locations, TWLOHA will bring a night of songs, conversation and hope to the west coast at the House of Blues, Los Angeles on January 15. Two weeks later they head to the House of Blues, Orlando on January 31. So what can we expect from HEAVY & LIGHT 2015? Let’s take a look at the lineup announced thus far.
Jon Foreman: Seemingly a staple at HEAVY & LIGHT, Foreman will be performing at both venues. The frontman of alternative rock band Switchfoot, Jon blew everyone away last year with his stirring rendition of “Dare You To Move,” before joining Mary Lambert, The Summer Set and Tristan Prettyman with an encore of “Lean on Me.” Known for his exquisite lyrics and stage presence, we can be certain that this HEAVY & LIGHT alumnus will make the event memorable.
Noah Gundersen: A friend to TWLOHA and previous HEAVY AND LIGHT headliner, Gundersen often goes on the road with Founder Jamie Tworkwoski as they share a message of hope to universities across the US. Appearing at the LA show, Gundersen’s clear and genuine vocals will make the night unique. Unflinchingly honest in lyrics and instrumentation, we can only hope that LA attendee’s get the chance to hear Gundersen and Foreman duet.
Dustin Kensrue: Known for his solo efforts as well as being a member of Thrice, Kensrue’s folk sound and sensitivity to exploring the highs and lows in humanity makes him a fitting addition to the Orlando show. On the 2007 release of his solo record, Please Come Home, the musician donated 5 per cent of the proceeds to TWLOHA. He has joined Tworkowski on the road and has also performed previously at HEAVY & LIGHT.
Anis Mojgani: Spoken word poet Anis Mojgani is a regular at HEAVY & LIGHT and will appear at the LA show in 2015. Especially known for his poem, “Shake The Dust,” Anis is charismatic yet unassuming. The musicality of the night is only added to by the beauty of the poet’s delivery and carefully crafted words.
Jamie Tworkowski: The founder of TWLOHA, Tworkowski remains a headliner year round as he travels across the country as a speaker. Tying together the event, he was integral to the creation of HEAVY & LIGHT which was first held in memory of Hawthorne Heights guitarist Casey Calvert in 2007.
With this year’s logo showing the crossing of a feather and anchor, HEAVY & LIGHT 2015 looks to be all of what TWLOHA represents: Hope, courage, recovery and honesty. The non-profit continues to bring hope and help to people walking through depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide eight years after its formation. HEAVY & LIGHT kick starts a mammoth year for the organization as a movie detailing the story surrounding its formation is released in March. Titled, “To Write Love On Her Arms,” it stars Kat Dennings and Chad Michael Murray.
TWLOHA have released a limited number of presale tickets for both locations. With more artists to be announced soon, it looks like HEAVY AND LIGHT 2015 could be one of their best yet. You can purchase tickets at their online store now.
